Nathan Shewell

Mr. Nathan Shewell, Theatre Arts Director

Nathan Shewell has been teaching high school theatre for 7 years and has over 20 years of theatrical experience. His students have competed at the state level in the One-Acts competition and on the International level at the International Thespian Festival in multiple categories. Nathan has performed professionally at Brown County Playhouse and built sets professionally at Actors Theatre of Louisville. He earned his BA in Theatre and Drama from Indiana University where he was the Assistant Director for two mainstage shows, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris and Sweet Charity. At IU Mr. Shewell studied directly under Tony nominated, Emmy winning choreographer George Pinney. In addition, he also became an Adjunct Lecturer and began teaching Ballroom Dancing at Fencing classes.

Mr. Shewell is a certified fencing coach through United States Fencing Association and holds a national rank in épée. Nathan and his wife Michelle, who is an RN, live in Indianapolis with their daughter, Arya Madisyn.

Michael Berg Raunick

Michael Berg Raunick is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Mr. Raunick is responsible for 5 choirs at North Central High School including the nationally recognized concert/show choir, the Counterpoints. His arrangements and compositions for show and concert choir have been performed by many schools in Indiana and Ohio. Mr. Raunick is a member of NAfME and ACDA and he was also the recipient of the New Jersey Governor’s Award in Choral Music. Mike lives with his wife Cara in Indianapolis and is currently completing a masters degree from Butler University.

Rick Granlund​

Rick Granlund serves as Performing Arts Chair and Director of Bands. Under the direction of Mr. Granlund, the North Central High School Wind Ensemble was ISSMA State Concert Band Champions in 2006, ’07, ’09, ’10 & ’11. Rick earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education in 1992 from Ball State University where he was a Pressler Scholar. In addition to completing Masters coursework at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Indiana University, Purdue University and Illinois State University, he completed his Master of Arts degree at the University of Indianapolis in 2004.

Rick’s wife, Candi, serves as the Band Director at Sycamore School in Indianapolis. They have three children, a daughter Elise, a son Connor and a daughter Laurel.
